BUZZ BY JEFFREY LO (DOWNLOAD PDF HERE)
A man stands at center. He looks at the audience.
Three women sit in front of the man with buzzers in front of them. They look at the audience.
The more the women use their buzzer. The more intense it becomes.
MAN: I am a good man –
MAN: I am not dangerou –
MAN: I grew up in a different ti –
MAN: I would never –
MAN: I have a mother –
MAN: I have a daughter –
MAN: I have a wife?
MAN: I don’t remember this happening but if it did –
MAN: If anything I did was misinterpreted –
MAN: WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO SAY!?
The women look at the man. A moment of silence.
Finally the man looks at the women,
The man makes eye contact with each woman. One by one.
MAN (Bracing himself for a buzz): What I did was wrong.
MAN (Still bracing himself for a buzz): I should not have done that.
MAN: I have hurt many people… and I am sorry.
The man sits down.
The three women stand up and hold hands.
END OF PLAY.
